Oasis Of The Seas
I have just read a news from Jamaica Information Service website which says that the port of Falmouth will be visited by Oasis of the Seas cruise ship on March 22, 2011.
Royal Caribbean International as the owner of the cruise ship in partnership with the Port Authority of Jamaica have invested a lot of money to revitalize the Falmouth pier to the meet the technical and navigational requirements for receiving the largest cruise ship in the world. Jamaica, a state in the Caribbean region, expect to create hundreds of new jobs for its citizens with the coming of cruise ships to its harbors. Souvenir, cloth, and food vendors and shops will get more buyers.
In land transportation sector, passengers from the cruise ships will need a lot of taxis to go around the island. Falmouth used to be a busy harbor for sugar and rum trading now expects to boost its economy again through tourism industry. With the length of 360 meters and the width of 65 meters, the Oasis of the Seas cruise ship can carry 6,296 guests.
